Does Home Business Cause Stress?

Dear Reader and Friend

Is your work at home business causing you too much stress due to some aspects you never had before?

You know most people want to work at home because they hate to travel to their work or they hate to have their boss standing behind and looking all the time over their shoulder. When examine all these inconveniences it appears like a perfect opportunity of working at home having your own hours and not having anyone to tell you what to do.

Frankly it is a nice feeling. Unfortunately amidst all this home business paradise, there will be some stress involved and if the stress begins to overtake the amount of fun you should be having when working at home, it may be time to think about what happened and what causes this type of stress.

You know when working for someone else you have a regular paycheck at least once a week or any other week. You always knew what to expect and what day you’ll receive your payment. When overtime was offered it meant extra money and again you knew when it would be given to you. Chances are there was a health care plan you could join at a reasonable cost and some other benefits you suddenly miss at all. Believe me lack of regular payment and lack of benefits as health care and paid vacations, retirement benefits, in some cases sick days and personal time are facts that can produce a kind of stress you never thought about before.

When you considering a home based business opportunity, all of those things are going to go away. When you are working at home you are earning money and most times you’ll get paid once the job turned in and approved. However the amount of money you receive may be a little different. Sometimes it will be more or sometimes it will be less. In case you are working with different companies, the income may come at different times although the different streams of income can add up to a tidy sum, there will be some stress involved if one or more of the streams is running a little slow.

It will be a rare home business opportunity in which the pay is made on the same day of the week by all the different clients or customers and until you learn to adjust to this new style of income schedule, it can be a stressful environment.

Additional every time you receive a pay check you have to separate a bit for your tax pay and this also put a strain on you family budget. However, if the right plans are not made it will make income tax time much more stressful that it needs to be.

Insurance concerns are high on everyone’s list and while there are many programs offering affordable insurance for home based business owners, they may a different opinion as to what is affordable. As a business owner you will need liability insurance in case someone is injured on your property or if you cause damage to someone through your actions or inactions. There is always a lot more involved that you don’t think of when starting your own business.

For most home based business opportunities, a regular, structured income can relieve a lot of the stress but this is something you have to design on your own. The income will come but not always in one lump payment and getting used to it can take a few months of struggling until you get used to it.

But with the right structure and plan of your home business you will overcome this irregular situation and you get used to it in a short time. Until then you’ll face a certain stress you are not used to especially when you have a family but it depends on how you manage your financial situation and how much can you stand this type of stress environment?

But never ignore this type of thoughts because in my long time career as a business owner I have seen a lot of friends who fail at these relatively easy issues. Sometimes it can be difficult when you are accustomed to receive your pay check every week because your outgoing expends are planned according these pay checks coming in like clock work.

Most people fail as a home based business owner because they are not used to this irregular income streams and financial situation.

Talk to you soon
